FLGA AGM 2010

The FLGA recently held their AGM at University of Ulster, Belfast. It was held on Thursday 4th February 2010 at University of Ulster, York Street, Belfast.

More than half the membership attended to vote for their new Executive Committee and to hear presentations from two informative speakers.
Cian Smyth, London 2012 Creative Programmer for Northern Ireland, gave members an update on the Cultural Olympiad and what the arts and cultural opportunities are for Northern Ireland.
John Price, Deputy Director, Local Government Policy Division at Department of the Environment, spoke on local government reform progress and the potential implications for the future.
Both stimulated a lively debate and provided answers to pressing questions from the audience.

The attendees elected the following members onto the Executive Committee:

Jean Brennan, Arts Manager, Omagh
Malcolm Murchison, Arts Manager, Coleraine
Jill McEneaney, Arts Manager, Armagh
Cllr Hubert Nicholl, Councillor, Ballymena
Cllr Thomas Kerrigan, Councillor, Strabane
Cllr Larry McLarnon, Councillor, Dungannon and South Tyrone
Cllr George Shiels, Councillor, Magherafelt
J Mac Pollock, Arts Activist, Ballymoney
Noelle McAlinden, Arts Activist, Fermanagh
Pearse Moore, Arts Activist, Derry

Looking ahead, the FLGA will be holding a plenary meeting of all members on Thursday 22nd April 2010.
